Horses pay the price for cheap lessons

"I can go 10 minutes down the road and pay half that—with no commitment."

You're absolutely right. You can find cheaper lessons just about anywhere. But ask yourself—are you really getting what you want?

What do you want out of your riding lessons?

Most people say, "I just want to ride and learn about horses. I don’t need anything fancy." That’s fair. But what about the horses you ride and learn with?

  • Should they miss their annual dental care?

  • Skip their monthly hoof trims?

  • Go without necessary supplements or chiropractic work?

  • Miss vaccinations or use poorly fitting equipment?

  • Work grueling hours just to make ends meet?

Of course not. You love horses—that’s why you want to ride! But when lessons are cheap, it’s often the horses that pay the price.

It’s easy for a business to cut corners by skipping vet visits, dropping supplements, or overworking their horses. The result? Lame, sore, and unhappy lesson horses. And when horses don’t feel good, they don’t teach well.

I see this all the time. Beginners may not notice, but horses do. Carrying 50, 100, even 200 pounds of unbalanced weight isn’t easy. Just feeding them isn’t enough—not in my book.

I set high standards for my horses because I know that when they feel their best, they teach their best. And when they teach their best, you get the best riding experience.
